I’ve been noticing a trend on social media…
People everywhere are trying to lose weight. While this particular trend is not new, what I find particularly interesting, is that the more popular means to try and lose unwanted pounds is to either drink liquids, take pills or use wraps.
While I’m not devaluing these popular options, I can’t help but wonder, whatever happened to using wholesome foods and exercise to lose those unwanted pounds?
An unacceptable Doctors visit…
In my own life, I had been eating very little… the reason… poor digestive health.
My body does not digest foods like the average person… therefore, I find it difficult to eat foods without getting pain in my stomach.
In desperation, I started reading a book called Digestive Health with Real Food.
It started with me eating only a few foods that were easily digestible, yet highly nutritious. The result, was that I lost a total of 77 pounds.
While this sounds fantastic… the downside was that my already high blood pressure went up even more, due to the daily intake of salt required following this plan. Although my doctor was pleased with the weight loss, he wanted to increase my blood pressure meds.
I found this highly unacceptable!
Today, I start an experiment with eating clean…
The plan is that I will be eating 5-6 small meals a day. Meals consisting of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins.
I also plan on getting in some ‘loving movement.’ In other words… exercise.
I’m not exactly sure what I will do for this part of the experiment. But, I will figure it out…
Even though I live on my small farm and there is a bit of ‘grunt work’ that keeps my muscles active, I basically live a sedentary life…
Because I’m really out of shape, I don’t want to overdo the exercise thing. I want to begin with something easy… I thought I might begin with a mix of pilates and yoga… or I might simply start out with a bit of walking each day… what are your thoughts?
